Abstract

CHITOSAN/ polyacrylic acid membranes containing different amounts of Al2(SO4) and/or TiO2 were prepared. The prepared membranes were characterized by measuring mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and elongation at break, swelling properties, antimicrobial and blood clotting. The results obtained indicate that the presence of Al2(SO4) and TiO2 in the membrane formulations has an incremental effect on the antimicrobial properties and blood clotting in albino rates.
