Abstract

Tension tests were made at temperatures ranging from - 320° to 1,500° F on high- purity nickel in t he annealed condition . Exceptions to t he usual trend exhibited by metals of decreasing strength and increasing ductili ty with increasing test temperature were observed and discussed . Stra in agin g occlIJ'I'ed in specimens tested in the temperature range of about 80° to 300° F, bu t recrystalli zation and recovery predominated in specimens fractured at ] ,200° and 1,500° F. 1.
