Abstract

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in women are of great concern to all health-care providers since many of them are preventable and/or treatable conditions which, if left untreated, could have serious sequelae such as pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, cervical cancer, systemic disease, etc. They may also become a major public health problem when dealing with diseases such as hepatitis, etc., or in people with human immunodeficiency virus. We present here a comprehensive review of the common causes of STDs and their treatment. © 2012 SGM.
