Abstract

Among those responsible for the large amount of content on the internet are the social networks. With the popularization of the mobile devices there has been the emergence of the so-called mobile social networking, which has changed the way the users relate to applications. In the quest for improving the user experience in mobile social networking, the gamification (the use of game design elements in non-related games) has played an important role. This article presents an analysis of data from two case studies and, from the results, suggests guidelines for the use of gamification in mobile social networks. © 2014 Springer International Publishing Switzerland.
