Jovens trabalhadores: expectativas de acesso ao ensino superior

Abstract

O presente artigo sustenta que as recentes transformações no ensino superior, especialmente no que se relaciona à ampliação da presença de jovens trabalhadores no meio universitário, tornam fundamental a retomada da categoria juventude nos estudos em torno desse nível de ensino, destacando a centralidade da categoria trabalho para sua constituição no Brasil. Tomando como referência um estudo realizado com jovens de baixa renda do Município de São Paulo, suas dificuldades e expectativas de acesso ao ensino superior, o artigo aponta a relevância e as limitações da atual expansão, bem como necessário um aprofundamento em torno da origem, das experiências e dos projetos dessa nova geração, que traz o ingresso no ensino superior como elemento essencial de sua trajetória desejada.The paper argues that the recent changes within the Brazilian higher education system, especially regarding the increase in the number of young workers, transfrom Youth into an essential category in the present studies of this educational level, highlighting de centrality of Work. Taking a former study that focuses on low income youth in the city of Sao Paulo and their difficulties and expectations to access the university level, the article also discusses the relevance and limits of the recent boom, pointing to a necessary in depth analysis of the origins, experiences and projects of this new generation, that regards the access to the university as an essential goal of their lives.
