Abstract

A review with 81 references concerning territorial, continental, and global aspects of C, N, P, and S emissions from agricultural ecosystems is given. Topics discussed include: share of agriculture in C, N, P, and S emissions into the environment, more efficient external and internal nutrient recycling, the role of developing countries in production of processed agricultural products, targeted measures to reduce losses and emissions, and measures for efficient use of nutrients in animal and plant nutrition.
