Abstract

The role of journal publications for academics has an interesting mix of long-standing values and new opportunities and challenges. As such, occasional adjustments to the expectations the Journal has for authors are important to consider. With the emergent success of ChemRxiv as a preprint server for the chemistry community, its role in chemistry education publications is particularly important to update. New author guidelines have been posted to the Journal website, and they include the addition of prepublication posting of manuscripts on the ChemRxiv server. The benefits of ChemRxiv and the reasoning behind the changes are discussed in this editorial.
