Abstract

Student Citizenship and dysfunctional behaviour impact the performance of higher educational institutions. Furthermore, some students can display both behaviours due to various antecedents. There has been some debate on the occurrence of both behaviours from same individuals within a business context. However, this phenomenon has not been investigated within Pakistani higher educational context. The objective of this research is to investigate these behaviours through accounts of students who are experiencing the behaviours withy in Pakistani higher educational context. Qualitative approach was used by conducting semi-structured in-depth interviews to capture in-depth experiences of students related to SCB and SDB The findings of the study suggest that students may exhibit both behaviours simultaneously under same and different stimulus. Furthermore, these behaviours are influenced by rewards and justice perception of the students.
