Abstract

Accurate information about deaths is important when determining the human health and economic burden of foodborne diseases. We reviewed death certificate data to assess the accuracy of deaths reported to the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet). Data were highly accurate, and few deaths were missed through active surveillance. © 2012 The Author.
