Abstract

This paper presents the way of estimating results in the case of indirect multivariate measurements performed using electronic measuring instrument. The simultaneous measurements of several quantities, which are usually correlated, are performed by using electronic devices in automatic control applications. The aim of paper is to discuss the propagation of measurement uncertainty in measuring channels. The presented model equation contains a vector measurand and the covariance matrix. The covariance of two random variables is a measure of their mutual dependence. A novel application is presented. The uncertainties of output quantities as well as matrix of correlation coefficients are computed. A comparison of two time series is another problem which is discussed in this paper. A simple technique of finding correlation between two signals produced by the automatic system with two magnetic field sensors, which is used for the purpose of vehicle’s length estimation, is presented.
