Abstract

In a virtual sound imaging system, crosstalk cancellation filters are used to create an effective sweet spot for 3D sound reproduction via multiple loudspeakers. A new 3-channel system is proposed to improve system performance on sound separation. Based on the robustness analysis of a crosstalk canceller, a modified-inverse filter technique is explored and demonstrated using two different examples of symmetric speaker positions. The simulation results indicate that the present system is robust over a wider bandwidth compared to a conventional 2-channel system. © 2003 Acoustical Society of America.
