Abstract

This paper was motivated by an old car racing game played in French schools. The objective of this paper is to model such a car racing system and to find a strategy that allows to move the cars automatically. First the rules of the racing game are given. Then it is modeled as a multi-agent system by GCA-w, a CA related model. An automatic driving strategy is presented in detail. A car moves from the starting line to the arrival line from one temporary goal to the next. The car first searches for the remotest convex point at a border and fixes the next goal nearby it. Then it moves to it stepwise, first accelerating and then decelerating. It is shown that this strategy allows the cars to move automatically around the circuit without bumping against a border. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
