With this volume, the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA) introduces the AFTA Springer Science Briefs Series. The current offering is a special edition drawn fi-om articles in the previously published AFTA Monograph Series and will be followed by stand-alone, thematic volumes in the Briefs series. Contributions to the current volume were authored by experts in the field of family therapy and reflect core aspects of AFTA: systemic and post-modem thinking, and AFTA's commitment to social justice in the culture of the organization, in clinical inquiry, and in training. Psychotherapists, academics, and clinical teachers will find these works inspiring and provocative; they are firmly rooted in the history of conversations about the evolution of family therapy within AFTA. Through collaboration with Springer Science, AFTA now is able to offer the special expertise of AFTA to a worldwide audience. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
