Abstract

A novel method based on the local entropy of the gradient is proposed to detect the forged digital images. The method can discover some traces of artificial feather operation, which is necessary to create a smooth transition between a forged image region and its surroundings. The local entropy of the gradient is used to determine the forged region, and the credibility is computed to show the reality level of the image. Results of experiments on several forged images demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2009.
