Abstract

Quantum correlations between a confined spin and a propagating single photon can be used to entangle distant spins. In this chapter, we review recent progress in the field culminating in the demonstration of spin-photon entanglementEntanglement , teleportation of quantum information from a photonic qubit to a quantum dot spin and heralded entanglement of distant hole spins. These results constitute important milestones towards the realization of quantum repeaters and on-chip quantum networks.
