Introduction to Drosophila suzukii management

Abstract

Drosophila suzukii Matsumura (Diptera: Drosophilidae), or the Spotted Wing Drosophila (SWD), belongs to the most important invasive pestiferous species. This chapter presents the main concepts necessary for the management of SWD in an area-wide integrated pest management approach. Morphological aspects and the basis for the correct identification of D. suzukii are also presented.
