The frontal sinus

Abstract

Despite many advances in our understanding of frontal sinus anatomy, physiology, and pathology, management of frontal sinus disease remains challenging. Endoscopic techniques have enabled surgeons to manage frontal sinus disease with less patient morbidity than ever before. Success in treating frontal sinus disease requires a thorough understanding of frontal sinus anatomy and contemporary frontal sinus surgical techniques. Radiographic findings indicating the presence of inflammatory frontal sinusitis should not be the sole criteria in selecting patients for frontal sinus surgery. Candidates should be carefully selected by placing the radiographic findings in context with patient symptoms and endoscopic findings. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
