Abstract

This chapter gives a brief introduction to the Octave-style language supported by DMelt. The high-level interpreted language based on Octave-style syntax is not tightly integrated with the Java platform, unlike other Java scripting languages which can import external Java libraries. But, as discussed in Chap. 6, you can easily integrate Octave-like code with symbolic calculations inside Java programs or Java-supported scripting languages, such as Jython, Groovy, JRuby, and BeanShell.
