Abstract

A review and discussion of the image coding methods applicable to black and white, still and moving images and to the encoding of graphics. Major sections are: spatial domain methods; transform coding; hybrid coding and vector differential pulse code modulation; interframe coding; the coding of graphics; application in areas of archival storage, medical image data compression, video-conferencing, remotely-piloted vehicles and broadcast television.-after Authors
