Abstract

This paper presents a single empirical model that correlates reasonably well with the pressure-limiting shear stress coefficients of different types of lubricants measured by different techniques. The model consists of three lubricant parameters – atmospheric viscosity, density and a viscosity temperature property (ASTM slope). These parameters are readily available or can easily be measured by conventional techniques.
