Abstract

This book explores the classical 17th-century dance style passed down through generations of Brahmin families in Kuchipudi village. A popular dance recognized as one of the foremost classical dance styles of India, Kuchipudi blends the sensuousness and fluidity of Odissi with the geometric line of today's Bharata Natyam. Included in the text are the dance's origin, history, variations, and accompanying music.
