Abstract

Social networks make it possible to share diverse content and maintain inter-connectivity between users at a global level. This study analyses the forms of expression and representation of the Flashmob phenomenon carried out by women on the Asian continent through the social network Instagram. The aim is to find out if there is a link with the feminist artivist movement. The data analysis was made using a methodology based on a quantitative and descriptive content analysis. Taking into account the different characteristics that are pointed out in the study – gender, location, music and clothing used – it can be seen that the Flashmob favours the empowerment of women in India and Southeast Asia.
