Indonesia has a natural and cultural resources biodiversity as attractiveness assets that are largely scattered in rural areas including in the remote and coastal areas. It is stated the population of Indonesia as much as approximately 250 million people that scattered in 99 towns and, more than 78 thousands of villages. It shows that the characteristics of country is rural, with it's diversity for more than 500 tribes, where generally the community still keep, conduct and develop the tradition and culture as their identity. Since associated with tourism development, the effort of this identity conservation is supposed to become tourist attraction that reflects the authenticaly unique of Indonesia. Unfortunately the potential diversity of cultural roots in rural areas, has not been able to be managed properly and correctly as a tourist attraction and activities. Through library research, the article purpose is to fegure out that implementing rural tourism can be one innovative solution to improve rural communities well-being, as well as to support Nawacita programs. Finally, the strategic recommendations in this article state that the tourism development in rural areas should be sosially accepted, culturally appropriate, undiscriminative, people centered (pro-poor, job, growth), and environmentally sound.
