Sustainable Development is more and more requested by society. This also has effects on regionally planned projects, which have to implicate social, ecological, and economic factors in their planning and development processes. Such a project development supports the preservation of entrepreneurial interests as well as the public interests. In consequence of the complexity regarding the evaluation of such projects, there is a need for supporting systems for administration as well as for displaying the actual sustainable state in a region. These supporting systems should integrate both decision support systems and multicriterial analyses. Additional functions should integrate a public participation in the decision-making process. So far there is no distinct solution for these problems in one central system available. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2009.
