In this paper, a design review and redesign system of NURBS models with a haptic device is described. A haptic device permits operators to directly and intuitively review and redesign the models. First the overview of the system is described, then the direct haptic rendering algorithm for NURBS models with the homogeneous geometric Newton-Raphson method is described. Finally, the system is experimentally estimated for the accuracy of the direct haptic rendering for complex NURBS models, and for the effect of design review process.
