Background: Heat-induced morphogenetic switch is Hsp90- and PKA-dependent. Results: The G protein-coupled receptor Gpr1, upstream of PKA, regulates trehalose levels in glucose-grown cells. Conclusion: The link between the PKA pathway and Hsp90-mediated regulation of heat-induced morphogenesis is trehalose. Significance: Tight control of trehalose levels is required for morphogenesis in Candida albicans. © 2012 by The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Inc.
