Abstract

The ability of trainee teachers in planning an effective teaching activity in the class is very important to ensure that the desired learning objectives can be achieved well. This study aims to develop a teaching unit based on the Heat topic by using the online software, genially to assist the trainee teachers in planning a better learning environment and evaluate its usability among the trainee teachers. The research designs were development research. ADDIE model has been used in developing the teaching unit. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. A total of 30 Physics trainee teachers from the Sultan Idris University of Education in their sixth and seven semesters of the study were involved in this study. The sampling technique that has been used was the simple random sampling technique. The findings show that level of usability of the online-based teaching unit among the trainee teachers was excellent based on the construct of usefulness (mean = 3.71, SD = 0.43), ease of use (mean = 3.68, SD = 0.38) and satisfaction (mean = 3.73, SD = 0.40). The use of this online teaching unit model is seen to be able to improve the ability and performance of trainee teachers in planning their teaching more efficiently, thus attracting students' interest in Physics subjects.
