Abstract

A method of sexing British Storm Petrels Hydrobates pelagicus morphometrically is described, and used to investigate the sex ratio of catches with and without a tape lure, bearing in mind the recent discovery that only male Storm Petrels churr. No change in the sex ratio of catches using a tape lure could be detected. This result, and assumptions for the general use of the method are discussed. © 1983 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
