This paper proposes a mobility-aware resource reservation mechanism to support quality of service in the future generation network environment where various wireless/wired access networks are converged to an IP-based core network. The proposed mechanism aims to provide real-time application-driven resource reservation in the mobile environment where mobile nodes move frequently between IP-based wireless access networks. The proposed mechanism uses localized path management to provide seamless QoS to the mobile nodes. We also present simulation and experimental results to show that the proposed/implemented mechanism works well. © 2008 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
