The chlorophyll content of leaves is very influential on plant photosynthesis. The aim was to analyze the chlorophyll content in various types of leaves; namely dieffenbachia sp; codiaeum variegatum; colocasia esculenta (under the shade); colocasia esculenta (not shaded); theobroma cocao; and carica papaya. The method of using 2 g of leaf samples was crushed and 80% acetone added. 5 ml of chlorophyll extract was diluted and transferred to a new 50 ml measuring flask and added 80% acetone until the volume reached 50 ml. The absorbance uses a spectrophotometer with wavelengths of 645; 652 and 663 nm. The results showed total chlorophyll Theobroma cocao 0.0136 gL-1; Codiaeum variegatum at 0.0098 g L-1; Dieffenbachia sp 0.0096 gL-1; then Colocasia esculenta (under the shade) of 0.0079 gL-1; then Colocasia esculenta (no shade); that is 0.0075 gL-1; and the smallest in Carica papaya leaves is 0.0046 gL-1. The highest total chlorophyll fresh leaf weight in Theobroma cocao was 0.68 mg chlorophyll / g fresh leaf weight; and the lowest was in Carica papaya which was 0.23 mg chlorophyll / g fresh leaf weight.
