This chapter describes the state-of-the-art analytical methods and instruments typical of those used to measure concentrations in all environmental media that contribute to human and non-human exposure to pollutants. For each topic, research needs are identified, and recommended projects are discussed that would meet these needs. Because the air route of exposure is important for many chemicals, the discussions are devoted to instrumentation and methods for measuring substances in air. -Author
