Fuzzy association rules provide a meaningful tool to represent new useful information extracted from raw data and expressed in a comprehensive way for a decision maker. In this paper we propose an approach to assess Fuzzy Association Rules by using the theoretical results by Trillas et al. about the Fuzzy Modus Ponens. First we review a theoretical model using multiple valued implication operators for assessing fuzzy association rules. This model gives an explicit meaning to fuzzy associations depending on the implication operator. Then we propose to refine this implication-based approach by using implications satisfying Trillas’ Modus Ponens inequality for assessing fuzzy rules. Some examples of these types of implications are provided.
