Abstract

Obsessive-compulsive disorders have a multifactorial origin including mainly neurobiological, cognitive, and family factors. This disorder has a marked tendency to chronicity. Although efficient treatment approaches are known, behavior therapy in particular, they are seldom applied in practice. A combination of behavior therapy and pharmacotherapy is considered especially effective. So far, only limited experience is available in the field of new therapeutic approaches (i. e., acceptance and commitment therapy) for children and adolescents.
