The .ABSTRACTAims:AnecologicalstudywasconductedtoinvestigatethediversitypatternofthelacticacidbacteriainthegastrointestinaltractofCemanichicken,anativeIndonesianchicken,usingamolecularapproachbasedon16SrRNAgenes.Methodologyandresults:Digestasamplesofsevenchickenswerecollectedforterminalrestrictionfragmentlengthpolymorphism(T-RFLP)analysis.Themoleculardiversityoflacticacidbacteriaincrop,ventriculus,ileumandcecumweredetermined.Theresultsshowedthatmicrobialcompositionoflacticacidbacteriaincecumwasrelativelydifferentwithotheruppergastrointestinaltract.Lacticacidbacteriaphylotypesanddiversityinileumwerehigherthanthoseinthecrop,ventriculus,andcecum.Conclusion,significanceandimpactofstudy:WeconfirmedthatcecumofnativechickenhasadifferentenvironmentascomparedtoothergastrointestinalregionsshowingthelowestvalueoftheSorensen'sindex.ThisfirstreportofLABdiversitypatterninCemanichickencontributesamorecomprehensiveunderstandingofthemicrobialecologyinthechicken.
