Abstract

(from the chapter) This chapter presents a study which discusses the role of gender and race in sense of coherence (SOC) and hope orientation results. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of gender and race in the positive psychology constructs of SOC and hope orientation. Initially, differences between the relevant groups were investigated by means of statistical comparison of possible differences between the mean scores on the different scales. Further analyses were subsequently performed by means of Rasch analysis to provide information on possible bias in the items of the different scales.
