Abstract

Recently, many experts prefer different therapeutic techniques, rather than subjugating to a particular theory or school and exclusive use of its therapies. The purpose of this pilot study was to investigate the effectiveness of integrated treatment of monotheism and the treatment of subject relations in marital violence and coping strategies among couples. The research method is semi-experimental (pre-test and post-test with the control group). A statistical population of the couples referring to psychosocial counseling centers of Soroush in Mashhad city during the first quarter of 2017 was selected by 30 people through targeted sampling and 10 subjects (5 couples in each group) were randomly selected. The first group received Monotheist Integrated Therapy (MIT), the second group treated thematically and the third group received no treatment. Data were analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive statistics and using t test and multivariate covariance analysis. Interventions were performed by two methods of integrated treatment of MIT and treatment of subject relations on two groups in 10 2-h sessions per week and the control group did not receive any treatment. In order to collect data, marital violence questionnaire and coping strategies questionnaire were used. There was a significant difference between the mean scores of MIT treatment group and the subject group therapy in the subscale of coping strategies (P =.001). There was a significant difference between the scores of the two experimental groups as compared to the control group. The use of integrated treatment of monotheism and the treatment of thematic relationships is effective in improving the level of performance of couples, so it is recommended that training is given to families and therapists in the two treatment methods.
