The early diagnosis of lung cancer is critical in determining the chances of recovery and survival of patients. Sometimes the differences exists between tissues, malignant and benign can be imperceptible to not trained human eyes, thus, a good diagnosis depends a lot of radiologists ability. A challenge in detection is the correct visualization of the possible lesions. This research presents an alternative to the traditional method of the region of interest selection in order to eliminate possible structures adjacent of the object of interest existing at using Otsu segmentation technique. The difference exists between the two selections techniques are statistically compared by Mann-Whitney test.
