The Church, Praxis Theology and Development in Zimbabwe

Abstract

This chapter utilizes insights from theology and development to examine how the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe (UCCZ), a member of the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC), has made a contribution to the nation. After analysing the debates on development, the chapter proceeds to describe specific projects by the UCCZ on development in Zimbabwe. One of these is the Poultry Project by the women’s guild and the other one is the zadza matura (food security) initiative. The chapter demonstrates how a specific denomination has implemented practical development programmes in a particular context.
