Abstract

Describes the population aging throughout the People's Republic of China, particularly in Shanghai, in contrast with the situation in Hong Kong, focusing on the consequences of population aging on informal & formal support systems at present & in the future. The efforts in Shanghai & Hong Kong reflect differences in their urban systems, but both are influenced by traditional practices of Chinese society. 33 References. Adapted from the source document.
