Abstract

Using regression analysis to process college physical experimental data may reduce tedious and complex manual calculations by data processing software and improve the accuracy of the experimental data processing results. The application of linear and nonlinear regression analysis, especially piecewise regression analysis was discussed in college physical experiment of data processing using Excel and Origin software through some examples in this paper. The detail procedure for college physical experiment of data processing using the regression analysis was given and the processing results were demonstrated by figures with a more direct and visual way. The advantages and disadvantages of regression analysis using different software for physical experimental data processing were also discussed. Applying regression analysis to process college physical experimental data through using computer application software can deepen the student to master physical experiment of college, boost the teaching quality for physical experiment of college and enhance the efficiency of student in learning. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH Berlin Heidelberg.
