Abstract

The synthesis and the purification of a new photo-crosslinkable poly(vinyl alcohol), Nelfilcon A, is briefly reviewed in this paper. Methods for the attachment of different functional groups to the polymer backbone are described. From the Nelfilcon A macromer, Focus® Dailies™ contact lenses are produced with a new production technology.
