The change in number of polymer particles formed in the continuous emulsion polymerization of styrene under operational conditions is theoretically analyzed on the basis of the authors kinetic data, previously obtained in a batch reactor. The phenomenon of the limit cycle observed in this continuous system is explained. It is noted that the application of “the seeder” to formation of polymer particles will be recommended in practical operations. © 1969, The Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan. All rights reserved.
