Abstract

The neocognitron is a hierarchical multilayered neural network capable of robust visual pattern recognition. This paper discusses recent advances in the neocognitron, showing several types of neocognitron, to which various improvements and modifications have been made. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
