In spite of significant advances in treating tuberculosis meningitis there are still too many complications and a high mortality rate as compared with meningitides caused by other bacteria. At present improvements can be achieved only by prevention and by consideration of the pathophysiological characteristics of this disease. Therefore symptoms as well as complications are demonstrated on the basis of 17 observations. An attempt is made to explain the peculiar pathogenesis in childhood and recent results of research in cell biology.
