The bovine euritrematose caused by Eurytrema coelomaticum has been reported in Brazil. The disease can affect domestic animals, including ruminants. These parasites usually live in the pancreatic ducts and occasionally in bile ducts. This study reports a process of cachexia in a cattle parasitized by E. coelomaticum from a herd of cattle located in the State of Minas Gerais. The affected animals showed progressive weight loss, glycosuria and ketonuria. At autopsy the pancreas was decreased in size, whitish, firm and diffusely intense (fibrosis). Several had ducts were dilated and filled with Eurytrema. Microscopically observed extensive destruction of the pancreatic parenchyma and fibrosis, intralesional ova and parasites, ductal hyperplasia and chronic multifocal inflammation. This report describes the progressive loss of weight and chronic pancreatitis associated with E. coelomaticum in beef cattle in Minas Gerais.
