Abstract

Location-based services for everyday essentials (LBSEE) are an information system which provides the location details of all the essential services available in Chennai City for a general public. The essential services include banks and ATM, post offices, taluk offices, schools and colleges, universities, theatres and malls, electronic shops which are available in 600 km2 area of greater Chennai City. In addition to that all the emergency services like hospital, police and fire are incorporated to meet the requirements of general public. The existing system limited in features and provides location details based on user’s user information. The main objective of this system is to provide the location details of all the essential services available in Chennai City. To achieve this, large amount of unstructured input data is collected from volunteered sources and classified by the novel classification technique. The detail like name of the service, address, locality, latitude and longitude, facilities available are extracted and stored into the GIS database. The system incorporates with the query processing technique which analyse the user request semantically, parse it and the relevant spatial information is returned to the user. The data visualization mechanism is used to present the data to the user through android and Web-based environment.
