Abstract

Calcium carbonate, which is made from limestone available in all over Japan, has widely been used as fillers for various fields like rubber, plastics, sealant, paint, and so on. In this paper, the ultrafine synthetic calcium carbonate applied to rubber compounding is reviewed. Ultrafine synthetic calcium carbonate has various particle size and surface properties. Therefore, ultrafine synthetic calcium carbonate improves various properties; for example, reinforcement, dispersibility, tackiness, process-ability, hardness, and so on.
