Abstract

The removal of dermal and subcutaneous lesions is one of the most common procedures performed in the outpatient setting. General surgeons and surgical advanced practice providers along with primary care specialists all perform excisional biopsies. This chapter will describe the preoperative evaluation, surgical techniques, and postoperative care for performing excisional biopsy, specifically the linear and elliptical technique.
