Abstract

The text undertakes a moving historical appraisal of the dramatic experiences faced by a family of migrants (the Parondi family) through their move from the rural south of Italy to the industrial metropolis of Milan, pointing out the expressive conflicting lives of the characters the mother, the five male siblings, their women -, just as performed in the classic feature film by neo-realist Italian director Luchino Visconti, Rocco and his brothers ("Rocco i suoi fratelli"), of 1960.
