Abstract

This chapter has the following goals: (1) to explain the EMTAP project; (2) to provide an overview of the methodology used; (3) to highlight the development of tools designed to standardize the process of conducting reviews of reviews; and (4) to summarize the lessons learned from conducting 'reviews of reviews.' Given the importance of research synthesis methods, this chapter concludes with recommendations for strengthening the evidence base and improving the quality of primary SRs and 'reviews of reviews' to advance practice in the areas of criminology and behavioral health.
